GRP at COP25 in Madrid

COP25 takes place from December 2-13, 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

GRP Areas of work: Policy Theme: Climate change

The Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) activities at UNFCCC COP25 in Madrid.

COP 25 saw the launch of  Resilience and Adaptation Pathway, on which GRP collaborated with a wide network of non-state actors under UNFCCC Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action (MPGCA). The Action Table and the Vision to 2050 already provide some building blocks to start coalescing around a common vision. GRP will continue to support MPGCA and the newly appointed UK High Level Climate Action Champion to further refine and operationalize the Resilience Pathway.

GRP was involved in four events at COP25. We led two events under the UNFCCC Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action (MPGCA). GRP will also participated in the Development and Climate Days and the UNFCCC Means of Implementation Day at the 2nd Capacity Building Hub.  These events brought together a wide array of stakeholders from grassroots, indigenous communities, farmers, business leaders, scientists, international organizations, and government representatives.

The Day will look ahead to 2020, when countries are due to report on how they will meet their Paris Agreement commitments.

The purpose of the Means of Implementation Day is to showcase pathways to enhance capacities of developing countries in the implementation of NDCs and NAPs, with a focus on climate finance and technologies; identify capacity gaps and needs, understand the effectiveness of actions, and ways to mobilize resources.

4. Integrating climate risk in national processes: Capacity-building, finance & budgeting perspective

When: Monday 9 December 11:00 – 12:30 (session during the Means of Implementation Day, Monday 9 December 9:00 – 20:30)
