Project Title: Community Flood Resilience Programme (CFRP)

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has helped refugee communities in Kakuma, north-western Kenya, deal with flood-related shocks and stresses. The project has provided technical solutions such as improving flood response systems by capturing water when it rains, educating communities about how to anticipate floods and droughts, and helping them prepare for and adaptively respond to recurrent floods and droughts. The project has also established a mobile phone-based warning system and sharing expertise on the use of fast-maturing, hazard-resistant crop seeds.
