Aquahope in Siaya and Farms of freedom in Kajiado

Empowering women through sustainable farming, financial tools, and climate resilience.

Lead organisation: Global Capacity Building Centre
Country: Kenya

This initiative supports women’s economic empowerment and climate resilience. In Siaya, AquaHope introduces sustainable cage fish farming, reducing reliance on exploitative practices like transactional sex, while improving food security and marine ecosystems. In Kajiado, the Farms of Freedom programme combats early marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) by training women in regenerative agriculture and livestock integration. Women are supported through Village Savings and Loan Associations, market linkages, and innovative tools such as a compost manure bot. The project promotes nature-positive livelihoods, enhances soil health, and builds long-term financial independence across both regions.
