Trans-Harmony Farms

Providing safe spaces for community members to grow crops, engage in permaculture training, and contribute to local food security

Country: Uganda
Lead organisation: Initiative of Trans with a Mission-Uganda

Trans-Harmony Farms addresses the pressing issue of economic exclusion and social marginalisation of LGBTQIA+ individuals in rural Uganda. Discrimination severely limits their access to stable livelihoods, leaving them vulnerable to hunger, poverty and isolation.

The solution lies in creating an inclusive agricultural hub where these individuals can engage in sustainable farming practices, acquire essential skills, and secure a stable income. This initiative not only empowers participants economically but also fosters social integration in climate-smart agriculture and strengthens food security in the region.

The expected outcome is a resilient, cohesive community where individuals thrive alongside their peers, promotion of policy reforms that foster inclusivity and environmental sustainability in Uganda’s agricultural sector and also contribute positively to society and local efforts of poverty alleviation.
