Other policies
GRP operates as a partner organisation through two distinct yet aligned organisational units, one located in South Africa, through the independently registered GRP Non-Profit Company (GRP NPC), and the other in Sweden, through the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC). Both organsiational entities have robust policies and follow established frameworks for anti-corruption, whistleblowing, ethical guidelines, procurement, environmental policies, code of conduct, ect.
Code of Conduct and Ethcal Guidelines
GRP NPC has a Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies, we also have an integrated approach to Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI). GRP at SRC follows SRC’s Code of Conduct and the and Stockholm University’s guidelines regarding “Ethical Guidelines and Safeguards”. In addition, GRP at SRC complies with Stockholm University’s Gender Equality Policy (2021-11-18), which contains a summary of the university’s plan for increased Gender Equality.
Environmental Policy
GRP is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and protecting the planet for current and future generations. GRP strives to promote climate resilience while minimising our environmental impact. Our policies guide our actions to ensure sustainability and environmental responsibility in all aspects of our operations, projects, and partnerships. GRP at SRC follows the environmental policies at SU. These include the environmental policy and the policy for meetings and travel.
Anti-Corruption Policy
GRP has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and fraud. GRP NPC has an anti-bribery and anti-corruption policy, and a whistleblower policy in place. GRP at SRC follows Stockholm University’s guidelines on anti-corruption and guidelines for preventing bribes.
All GRP staff across the entities have to confirm in writing that they have read and understood these policies. GRP regularly offers training on anti-corruption. All staff and consultants must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may compromise their ability to act in the best interest of GRP. GRP staff will continuously work to prevent corruption in all its forms. GRP reviews the need for training on anti-corruption and internal management and control on an annual basis. GRP assesses its Implementing Partners’ policies and guidelines on anti-corruption as well as the partners’ response to any suspected or detected case, as part of the due diligence, before entering into an agreement.
Screening against EU Sanctions
GRP has a standardised method for screening all Implementing Partners against the EU sanction lists. The banks in South Africa are legally required to screen for sanctions before releasing any payments, the legislation governing this includes the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA), POCA, and POCDATARA. Stockholm University’s bank also screens all payments against the United Nations’, the European Union’s, the United Kingdom’s and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC8) sanctions lists.
