Through a synthesis of peer-reviewed and grey literature, and numerous case studies from SIDS and LDCs, this report highlights gender roles in two key sectors of the ocean economy (small-scale fisheries and coastal tourism), describes the gendered dimensions of ocean risks, and summarizes efforts across SIDS and LDCs for gender equitable approaches to building resilience to ocean risks.

This platform provides guides and tools based on The Blue Guide for Coastal Resilience. This Guide enables disaster risk reduction practitioners to learn about how Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can protect people and property specifically in coastal areas. NbS in coastal areas involves harnessing the power of ecosystems, such as reefs and mangroves to reduce the impacts of climate hazards such as storms and coastal flooding. This platform also supports users to learn how to integrate coastal NbS into disaster planning to reduce risks in coastal areas.

The formation of the Resilience Measurement, Evidence and Learning Community of Practice (RMEL CoP) in 2016, created a remarkable opportunity. Collaboratively engaging 250+ resilience thinkers, researchers, evaluators, and practitioners from government, academia, civil society, and business, the RMEL CoP has provided unique multi-disciplinary and cross-sector spaces to learn together, and to inform, speed up, and scale-out the practice of resilience.

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) works to enhance the quality of life for the poorest and most vulnerable to climate change. CDKN supports decision-makers in designing and delivering climate compatible development. It does this by combining knowledge, research and technical advisory in support of locally owned and managed policy processes. CDKN works in partnership with decision-makers in the public, private and non-governmental sectors nationally, regionally and globally.

PreventionWeb is a collaborative knowledge sharing platform on disaster risk reduction (DRR), managed by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). The site offers a range of knowledge products and services to facilitate the work of DRR professionals. PreventionWeb features content that helps DRR stakeholders better understand disaster risk and learn from the implementation of DRR strategies, policies and measures.
