International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The IRC helps people to survive, recover and rebuild their lives.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a legal, non-profit entity that helps people affected by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. IRC’s Economic Recovery and Development (ERD) programs helps people meet their most basic survival needs and diversify and sustain their livelihoods to enhance their resilience.

IRC works with communities to restore agricultural assets, restart production, improve skills and practices, support the improved management of natural resources, strengthen market systems, build climate resilience and disaster preparedness. IRC implements the ERD program in 30+ countries in Africa, Asia, Middle East, Europe and Latin America. The ERD Technical Unit supports innovative technology and piloting new approaches, which are rigorously tested and if proven to be effective and efficient (including cost-efficiency), they support scaling.
