RAIN 2 Seeds: Mavunolab

MAVUNOLAB is a youth-driven initiative working to reduce food loss and waste while strengthening sustainable fisheries and livelihoods around Lake Victoria, Tanzania. The organisation focuses on improving post-harvest fish processing, particularly for Dagaa, a small but highly important fish that supports the nutrition and incomes of millions of people across the region. By promoting safer, more sustainable drying and preservation methods, MAVUNOLAB aims to reduce waste, improve food quality, and create healthier working conditions for local communities, especially women involved in fish processing. Through innovation, community engagement, and sustainable practices, the initiative supports food security, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunities within the Lake Victoria fisheries sector.
