Country: Kenya/Tanzania
Lead organisation: Zowasel
Zowasel will deploy a robust and scalable Digital monitoring, reporting, and verification (D-MRV) system for Diageo’s sorghum value chain in Tanzania’s Singida and Tabora regions. The system is designed to meet global climate change reporting through transparency and accountability. It also gives Diageo the tools to drive its sustainability initiatives to transform agriculture from a carbon source to a carbon sink.
Zowasel will leverage the experience of working with sorghum farmers in the Oyo and Kwara southwest regions of Nigeria. Zowasel simplifies tracking and reporting on voluntary and regulatory compliance, saving time and resources. The platform rewards farmers with carbon incentives to drive the transition and reinvest in their farmlands and communities.
Farmers can access alternative finance to drive the transition through the Zowasel AI-powered Alternative Credit Evaluation Scoring System (ACESS), an ethical credit scoring and loan assessment tool that bridges the gap between farmers and financial institutions to unlock access to credit for farmers to drive the transition to sustainable agriculture.
