The Hindu Kush Himalaya, the “Third Pole”, holds the largest ice reserves outside the poles and feeds the rivers that sustain 240 million mountain people and 1.65 billion downstream. It is warming at an alarming rate, yet attracts a fraction of the climate finance flowing to mitigation and energy. Co-convened by the Global Resilience Partnership and ICIMOD, this session brings solutions from our joint HKH Innovation Challenge (supported by the UK FCDO) together with investors and scaling partners. Working across resilient agriculture, water security and sustainable tourism in Bhutan, Bangladesh, India and Nepal, these solutions depict what locally led adaptation looks like when it works. Together, we will identify what’s missing to scale their impact: the capital, partnerships, and policies needed. Attendees will leave with a transboundary pipeline of early-stage solutions and a sharper read on the most under-financed climate frontier.
