The Southern African Resilience Academy (SARA) invites proposals for collaborative working groups to pursue inter- or transdisciplinary research and engagement that synthesise understanding under the guiding theme of “Transformative pathways to Resilient and Sustainable Futures.”
SARA provides a convening and support space for inter- and transdisciplinary researchers, practitioners, and those at the science-policy-practice interface, working on pressing resilience and development challenges across southern Africa. SARA aims to elevate and showcase insights and perspectives from the southern African region, strengthen existing expert networks, expand collaboration, and facilitate the co-production of policy and practice-relevant knowledge.
The main mechanism for achieving this aim is through convening a set of working groups that meet over 3 years (in-person and online) to produce both academic products and a set of strategic science-policy or science-practice engagement processes. SARA provides support for workshop attendance, publication fees and for the creation of engagement processes and products.
Working groups (5-8 members each) are expected to be a diverse collaboration of complementary skills between academic researchers, practitioners, and those working across the science-policy-practice interface.
