DARAJA (Developing Risk Awareness through Joint Action)

Providing residents of informal settlements across Nairobi and Dar es Salaam with localised extreme weather and climate information services

The project is focused on providing residents of informal settlements across Nairobi and Dar es Salaam with localized extreme weather and climate information services. It brings together an alliance of scientists, Met Agencies, community development actors, city planners/responders and city media, working to a set of guiding principles. It simultaneously works to raise the institutional profile of met agencies which are currently resource-starved, cultivating more sustainable funding for the essential information services they provide for disaster risk reduction.
