GRP hosted its first Partners Learning Webinar on Wednesday 29 May with Mahila SEWA Housing Trust.
The first half of the webinar was dedicated to creative inspiration. We heard from participants about the content series. Interactive activities included, discussions, polls and live shared documentation, where attendees could add their input directly into a shared google document. Participants had the opportunity to share and emphasize their priority topics.
Bijal Brahmbatt, Managing Director of Mahila SEWA Housing Trust (MHT) presented insights from their work on women’s empowerment. On 16 May 2019, MHT were awarded as one of the three laureates of the 2019 United Nations Sasakawa Award which recognizes initiatives that protect vulnerable communities from disaster risk. The MHT three-pronged approach includes (1) empowering communities with knowledge, (2) providing access to finance and carrying out building infrastructure, and (3) bringing about policy and regulatory changes.
