Practical Action

Project Title: Agricultural and Water Resilience in Coastal Areas of Bangladesh

Practical Action has used meteorological agricultural information services and the improved commercial production and marketability of flood-saline resilient crops to build resilience in vulnerable communities in Bangladesh. Focused on improving the physical, social and economic resilience of poor families in six flood-prone sub-districts of Jessore, Shatkhira and Khulna districts, the project has mitigated the negative impact of flooding and salinity on agricultural livelihoods. In particular, the project has enhanced economic opportunities for poor farmers, especially women.
