Webinar: Insights from Resilience for Peace and Stability, Food and Water Security Innovation Grant Program

Join us on 28 January at 14:00 CET for a an upcoming webinar hosted by the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to share key insights and lessons from the Resilience for Peace and Stability, Food and Water Security Innovation Grant Program.

About the program

The Resilience for Peace & Stability, Food and Water Security Innovation Grant Program, an initiative awarded through the 2019 GEF Challenge Fund, focuses on building resilience in fragile, conflict-prone regions. Led by UNDP and implemented by GRP, the program aimed to identify, invest in, and scale early-stage innovations with high potential to foster resilience and stability in areas highly vulnerable to climate change.

A Terminal Evaluation assessed the achievement of project results against the initial design, draw lessons to improve sustainability, and to build a foundation for evidence sharing and learning, enabling stakeholders to grasp the project’s transformational and sustainable impact. This understanding is crucial for informing future resilience outcomes and guiding the design of new projects. The evaluation specifically addresses key questions, including:

  • Do the innovative finance mechanisms enhance adaptation practices to strengthen climate resilience in fragile and conflict-prone regions?
  • What lessons have been learned about operating and building resilience in these sensitive areas?

The program garnered support from national governments, with local partnerships established in Sudan through the Near East Foundation and in Uganda through Lutheran World Relief and Mountain Harvest, underscoring the potential for locally-driven climate adaptation to support national development priorities.
