The impacts of climate change are devastating billions around the world, with the Global South bearing a disproportionate burden, especially for those living in informal settlements. Significant gaps remain in the crucial climate impact data and information on adaptation measures. Much of this potentially life-transforming information is often incomplete, inconsistent, and not globally accessible.

Against this backdrop, GRP, the University of Oxford, Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centres (SPARC), Slum Dwellers International, Stockholm Environment Institute, CR2 at the University of Chile, and Ona are collaborating on the the Resilient Planet Initiative (RPI). Supported by funding from Google.org, this groundbreaking initiative aims to deliver essential solutions for building climate resilience to millions.

RPI will provide access to critical information through three interconnected platforms. The Data Hub will consolidate global data on climate risk and resilience. The Solutions Hub will showcase what communities, businesses, and cities are doing to build resilience, organising and refining the information. The Exchange Hub will develop front-end apps and links to documented datasets and solutions, providing easy access to climate and adaptation data for various stakeholders, including frontline communities, businesses, and cities. The Data and Solutions Hub will be accessible to the general public.

Join us during Climate Week NYC to learn more about RPI and explore opportunities for collaboration. The event hosted at The New School’s Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility will focus on the Solutions Hub and feature a working session on climate data and adaptation classifications and taxonomies.
